Mountain Home's new mayor, Rich Sykes, is sworn in by city clerk Nina Patterson during a public meeting Monday evening. The venue moved to the Mountain Home Elks Lodge to accommodate the crowd that witnessed the changeover in the city's leadership.

With a rap of the gavel, Mountain Home's new mayor officially assumed his role as the city's leader during a meeting Monday.

Raising his right hand that evening, Rich Sykes was officially sworn in as the city's mayor as people packed into the Mountain Home Elks Lodge to witness the ceremony.

Sykes admitted that he looks forward to working with the city council in the coming years and hopes all of them are ready for the ride they are about to begin.
