Douglas Wayne Beaver, 60 of Mountain Home, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 26, 2015 at St. Luke's Elmore Medical Center. A celebration of Doug's life will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 2276.

Burial with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Doug was the eldest of four children, born to Jack and Carol Beaver on June 8, 1955 in Elko, Nev. Doug enjoyed his childhood living and traveling all over the world as his dad was in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a great athlete growing up focusing on baseball and wrestling. In 1973, Doug graduated from high school at Zweibrucken, Germany. After graduation, he moved back to the United States to live in Utah with his beloved Uncle Gerald and Aunt Ione and figure out where his next great adventure of achievement would take him.

Two years after graduation, Doug followed his dad's footsteps to serve his country. He proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy, stationed at San Diego Naval Training Center. This is where he met his true love, Essie Mae, and convinced her to leave the big city life and move to "little ol" Mountain Home, Idaho.

After leaving the Navy in 1979, Doug and Mae moved to Mountain Home. Doug proudly worked for almost 37 years supporting our country in the Navy and his government service time at Mountain Home Air Force Base, retiring in March 2014.

During their 40 years together, Doug taught Mae the love of the outdoors and joy of traveling the world. If they weren't enjoying each others time while traveling to Mexico, Asia or even around the United States, they were spending time together in the outdoors fishing and camping. Doug was always a very active person and the times he spent with family and friends enjoying the things he loved were what made him so proud.

Doug and Mae were blessed with two wonderful children, Trevor and Megan. Then they went on to further grace them with three beautiful and healthy grandchildren, Tru, Owen and Dilynn.

Nothing compared to his love for his family, especially in the last seven years when his grandchildren came around. Family and friends were important to him and he always had a place in his home for anyone that stopped by.

During the years in Mountain Home, he kept busy volunteering and taking pride of being a part of the community through the American Legion Member for 32 consecutive years, Elks Lodge Trustee and the Daniel Dopps PRCA Rodeo Committee.

Doug will truly be missed by his loving wife, Essie Mae; his son and daughter in-law, Trevor and Shannon; his daughter, Megan; three grandchildren, Tru Wayne, Owen Jack and Dilynn Grace; his sister and brother in-law, Brenda and Bob Schwarze; sister and brother in-law, Ramona and Jay Mendenhall; Uncle and Aunt, Ed and Karen Wooderson; and his extended families in Missouri and Utah.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Beaver; mother, Carol Beaver; and his brother, Dennis Beaver.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Doug's name to the American Legion Post 101-PO Box 1072, Mtn. Home, ID 83647, Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 2276-325 S. 3rd West, Mtn. Home, ID 83647 and/or Daniel Dopps Memorial Rodeo, 4277 NE Lott Rd., Mtn. Home, ID 83647.
