Common sense lacking in government's decisions

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Dear editor,

I've always found "IF" to be a very thought provoking word, especially in a world where common sense "ain't too common." For example:

IF we have to account to the IRS each April 15th, why doesn't the government have to account to us about what they blow our tax dollars on?

And IF Lois Lerner can plead the 5th twice and walk away, why wouldn't that work for YOU during an audit? IF it's some sort of felony to lie to the feds, how is it acceptable for THEM to lie to US on a daily basis?

How can we afford to take care of thousands of illegals and refugees IF we can't even take care of our wounded warriors? Why is it "below the dignity" of a welfare recipient to have to drug test, IF YOU had to drug test to get the job to pay for it in the first place?

IF voter ID is some sort of "disenfranchisement", why do you need one to attend a speech?

IF politicians' families are important enough to warrant armed protection, why aren't ours? IF Eric Holder can run assault weapons to Mexican drug cartels with complete impunity, why do I have to sign my life away to buy a lousy deer rifle?

IF we have another "9/11" will that just be another "set-back?"

Most big city killings are black-on-black, gang-related, proven and documented. IF all "black lives matter," where is Sharpton & followers? Or do they only matter when a cop is involved?

IF Obamacare is so wonderful, why isn't it good enough for the politicians? IF you support the Muslims and their customs, how can you accuse the GOP of "waging war on women?"

And IF Obama and Hillary were Republicans, he'd have been impeached long ago, and she'd be sitting in jail right now.

IF the bad guys are beheading people, how can water-boarding be so "cruel?" IF "the President's strategy is working", my question would be, "for WHO?"

And for the "reparations crowd," Hiroshima and Nagasaki would not have been necessary IF it hadn't been for Pearl Harbor. I actually find it awe-inspiring that it was Harry Truman, a DEMOCRAT of all things, to do what was necessary to put a stop to the fanatics.

We didn't have "common core" when I was a kid. IF you studied, you passed. If you screwed-off, you flunked.

And folks, IF I had ever talked back to my mom or dad, threw a fit and screamed in a store, make no mistake, there'd have BEEN a "clean-up on aisle 5"

One can only wonder what our country would be, IF, we all decided to be Americans again instead of indoctrinated robots. With that in mind, I think I'll go tear off the tag on our mattress. IF of course, nobody's watching.
