Update: Santa & Cinema event planned

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

The date in the print edition of this week's newspaper was incorrect. The correct date for the "Santa and the Cinema" event is Saturday, Dec. 5.

The city parks and recreation department, Mountain Home Elks Lodge and Take One Cinema will hold its annual "Santa and the Cinema" event this weekend.

Celebrating its second anniversary, the free event started as a partnership between all three organizations to offer a "holiday experience that can be enjoyed by the entire family with films centering on old-fashioned family values and true holiday spirit," said project chair Cristena Ford.

Doors to the movie event open at 10 a.m. and includes a choice of four Christmas movies with the first films shown at 11 a.m. and the second following at 1 p.m.

The first screening offers a choice of "An Arthur Christmas" or "Jack Frost" with the second showing of either "A Christmas Carol" or "Holiday Inn."

Organizers will also serve cookies, hot cocoa, hot apple cider and candy canes. Santa will also put in an appearance for families to take photos of St. Nick with their children.

Free admission tickets are available at the door the morning of the event and are available on a first-come basis. For more information, call the parks and recreation office at 587-2112.
