Three of the four apartment units at Sunset Manor were destroyed in the Thanksgiving Day fire with the fourth sustaining heavy smoke and water damage.

City firefighters are continuing to investigate what triggered a fire that caused extensive damage to a four-unit apartment complex at Sunset Manor on Thursday.

Crews were dispatched to the assisted living center complex around 7 p.m. that evening with the flames destroying three of the apartments with a four sustaining extensive smoke and water damage, said Capt. Mark Moore with the Mountain Home Fire Department.

The multi-unit complex had a shared attic, which allowed smoke to travel through all of the apartments, Moore said. However, all of the occupants in the were able to safely escape from their homes.
