Marion Elliott "Boots" Lewis, 63 of Mountain Home, passed away Nov. 13, 2015 at a Boise hospital with his family by his side. A memorial service will be held at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Marion was born Jan. 16, 1952, to Mel and Louise Lewis in Champaign, Ill.

Boots worked in construction most of his life and was an avid rock hound and loved panning for gold. He was a very talented jewelry artisan, attending professional jewelry-smith classes.

Boots also attended a motorcycle school and became a certified motorcycle mechanic after acquiring his love for motorcycles from his father, Mel. He enjoyed playing cards, gambling, assembling and displaying his very unique jigsaw puzzles with his wife, Jo Lynn.

He had a very diverse range of art interests. He was very passionate about antiques and collectibles having extensive knowledge in both areas. He loved to share his vast knowledge in so many subjects. He would talk for hours with anyone who was interested.

Acquiring his love for plants from his mother, Louise, he collected all varieties of house plants. Everything from the common to exotic varieties.

He was proud to have played football at Homer High School in Illinois. He fell in love with Idaho the first time he visited, but went back to visit family often.

My father! He had an uncanny way of befriending all that he met. You could ask him about anything! He had so much great advice.

Dad could fix absolutely anything! He was truly Mr. Fix It in every aspect of his life.

Boots is survived by his wife and lifelong companion, Jo Lynn of Mountain Home; his daughter, Charity, and her husband, Kelly Randall of Boise; grandchildren Alexander and Lauren of Boise and Jocelin of California; his mother, Louise; and siblings Tim, Patty and Melinda of Illinois, Angel of Missouri and Debbie of Illinois.

Boots is preceded in death by his father, Melvin; daughter, Lori Ann, and his niece, Amy.
