Susan J. Hall-Martinez, age 59 of Mountain Home, a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, went home to her Lord peacefully on Oct. 24, 2015. She passed away in her home, with family and beloved dog all by her side.

A memorial service will be held at First Southern Baptist Church in Mountain Home on Nov. 14, 2015 at 4 p.m. Arrangements by Rost Funeral Home.

Susan was born Aug. 26, 1956, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Los Angeles, Calif., in 1957. Susan had been used to New York with tall buildings that shaded her delicate eyes from the direct sunlight. She just couldn't tolerate the California sunshine, so she was the coolest toddler wearing sunglasses.

As a single mother, she put herself through law school at San Joaquin College of Law, where she graduated top of her class through the accelerated program with her Juris Doctorate in 1992. She opened her own practice in Merced, Calif., where she practiced as a family law attorney for 21 years.

Susan is the most loving, charitable, and sensitive person you could ever meet. Her law practice was never about making money, but helping families in need. The numerous people that came to her for help were never "just clients" they became a part of an extended family to her.

She would even donate her own time to those in need. It really saddened her when she was forced to medically retire in 2013 due to a host of ongoing major illnesses.

While her practice was still thriving she moved to Mariposa, Calif., and became an active member of her community and commuting to work for a number of years, which is where she remained until 2013 when her health problems started interfering with her daily living.

Mom loved all animals, and having the land to care for them. If it needed a home, she opened her heart and door to them all. In 2013 when she was force to retire, she moved to Shafter, Calif., with her daughter and family. Her biological and Shafter church family all helped take care of her.

In January 2015, she was medically stable, and she and her family moved to Mountain Home, where she enjoyed the last 10 months of her life surrounded by her biological and Mountain Home church family.

She spent her life serving the Lord in any way she possibly could. She loved playing piano, an avid reader, playing online games and meeting new people. She most recently had taken up crafts including painting and learning how to sew with her granddaughter, Jessica.

Her greatest passion was serving her Lord, spending time with family, friends and animals. She loved them with all of her heart.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Heather (Scott) Eddy; sons Timmy Chihuahua and Paul Carty; brother William (Bill) Andrews and nephew William (Billy) Andrews; grandchildren Vanessa Ramsey (Travis) Price and Jessica Carty; and great-grandchildren Leo, Emily and Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her parents.
