State board approves SBAC waiver

Less than three months after schools across the state received their first progress report on how their students performed during a new testing program, Idaho education officials granted a waiver that allows ninth graders to skip next year's scheduled exam.

The Idaho State Board of Education approved a one-year waiver last month, marking the third year that ninth graders at public schools in Mountain Home and other districts are not required to take the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium, or SBAC, examination.
