Jackie Marsh holds up a homemade apple pie that was up for bid during the Mountain Home Historical Museum's annual pie social Aug. 18. The event auctioned off 51 pies along with 13 cakes during the afternoon with the proceeds going to support the local museum and the historical events it holds throughout the year. Kari Pearson took top honors in the apple pie baking contest with Felicia Shoemaker finishing second overall and Jan and Sheryle Landon rounding out the top three.

Members of the community gathered beneath the trees around the museum as the auction bidding begins during the museum fundraiser. "We are very appreciative of how the community comes together, from purchasing the fresh baked pies and cakes to those who bake them," said museum director Deb Shoemaker. She also thanked the group of volunteers that came together to organize and help run the event as well as those who baked an assortment of treats using their own family recipes.
