Velma Rose Hutchinson Pine passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at Poplar Grove Assisted Living in Glenns Ferry. At her request, no services will be held. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Velma was born in Lincoln, Neb. in 1922 to Charles Wilbur Hutchinson and Rose Borre Hutchinson and was raised with one brother, Orville.

Velma graduated from Lincoln High School and completed Lincoln Business College. When Velma's longtime friend, Arthur Eugene Pine, took a job in California, she moved to Los Angeles where she and Art were married on March 15, 1942. The Army sent Art overseas, and Velma returned to Lincoln and was employed by the National Red Cross. In 1945, Art returned to Lincoln and continued to work in banking.

Velma enjoyed her work for Kelly Girls Secretarial as the family moved to California and then to Utah while taking care of her family when Art traveled for the Federal Reserve System.

Velma and Art had four children, Mary Louise, James Charles, Phillip Martin and Terry Lee. The family moved to Glenns Ferry in 1984 where Art worked and retired. Velma found many ways to help and serve new friends.

Art passed away in 2001. Velma enjoyed going to the senior citizen's center and her presence was appreciated there also.

Velma's health deteriorated in 2011, and she came to Poplar Grove Assisted Living in Glenns Ferry.

Velma is survived by her son, James (Susan) of Albuquerque, N.M.; and her son, Phillip of Fort Bridger, Wyo.; five grandchildren, Michelle Hernandez (Jesse), Keith Pine (Rie), Jesse Pine (Agi), Joshua Pine (Brianna) and Sierra Pine; five great-grandchildren, Jaden, Eli, Isaiah Hernandez, Isaac Pine and Leon Pine, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
