Letter to the Editor

Powers extends his thanks

Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Dear editor,

A special thanks go out to Brenda Fincher and Brian Orban for the kind words in last week's Mountain Home News. You have been great to work with, as well as Melanie Brown at the Glenns Ferry Gazette and past MHN editor Kelly Everitt. You all have been great to me.

I want to express my thanks over the years to first, Mountain Home School District, as well as Glenns Ferry School District and Rimrock School District. Administrators and athletic directors of these schools have been great to work with over the years.

I recall a time Mr. Lloyd Schiller changed a starting time of a Mountain Home ball game to allow our radio station to be able to broadcast both a Glenns Ferry Pilot ball game AND a Mountain Home game. Unheard of these days (as I tried to have it done a few years ago with no success, but I digress). I have nothing but great memories.

I also want to say a big "thank you" to all of the coaches from all the schools that I have been blessed to work with over the years, including the legendary Gordon Brown of Glenns Ferry, having been blessed to play for him (okay, riding the bench most of the time), then covering his teams for radio and the paper.

All coaches for all sports at Mountain Home, Glenns Ferry and Rimrock have been great to me over the years.

Last, but not least, I want to thank the players for all the exciting memories I have of covering them over the years. I have been blessed to come in contact with many outstanding players, who were not just outstanding athletes, but who have become outstanding members of society.

I truly feel blessed for having the opportunities that I have had, and I thank God for all He has given me.
