An Oregon State Police trooper used a tactical vehicle maneuver to stop the 2014 Ford Mustang driven by Curtis Gentry. The high-speed chase began in Elmore County on Tuesday and continued across the state line into Oregon.

A New Mexico man was arrested Tuesday morning following a high-speed chase that began in Elmore County.

Curtis A. Gentry, 33, was arrested in Baker County where he faces charges of reckless driving and using a vehicle in an attempt to elude authorities.

Gentry was driving a grey 2014 Ford Mustang with temporary plates westbound on the interstate when Idaho State Police received reports that he was driving recklessly on the highway. A pursuit quickly began around 10:35 a.m. that continued through Elmore County into neighboring Ada, Canyon and Payette counties.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Ontario Area Command picked up the pursuit at the Oregon-Idaho line and attempted to use tire spikes to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful. The pursuit continued westbound on the interstate at speeds ranging from 58 to 146 miles per hour.

Due to a pair of construction sites on the interstate, troopers slowed down their pursuit with the Oregon State Police launching an aircraft to follow the suspect's car. Meanwhile, the Oregon transportation department was notified of the pursuit and relayed information to the construction workers so they could clear their construction zone area before the pursuit vehicles reached their areas.

Baker County Sheriff's Office, Baker Police Department and Oregon State Police La Grande Area Command Troopers provided additional help as the Gentry's vehicle continued near Baker City, Ore. An Oregon State trooper successfully used tire spikes to puncture the tires of the suspect's car at milepost 295 near North Powder, Ore.

A trooper used a tactical vehicle intervention to bring Gentry's vehicle to a stop at milepost 292. Gentry was taken into custody without further incident and was taken to the Baker County Jail.
