A 32-year-old Boise man was killed Saturday morning after his 2001 Pontiac rolled off Simco Road and overturned multiple times.

A Boise man and the infant son of a Mountain Home man were killed in separate crashes reported in Elmore County last week.

The first crash was reported around 6:30 p.m. Friday and was one of three collisions reported near the Simco Road exit that evening in the vicinity of milepost 75.

Justin Fitzpatrick of Mountain Home was traveling westbound in a 2002 Dodge Stratus when his car was struck from behind by a 2009 Pontiac G6 driven by Steven Shelly of Meridian. According to information released by the Idaho State Police, Fitzpatrick was traveling below the posted speed limit prior to the collision. Both vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway.

Fitzpatrick's adult passenger was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise while his son, Kameron Fitzpatrick, was transported by air ambulance to the same location.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts prior to the crash, and the infant was in a child seat, the Idaho State Police reported. The infant died from his injuries at the hospital.

The second fatal crash was reported at 7:52 a.m. Saturday on Simco Road. The driver of a 2001 Pontiac was traveling northbound on Simco Road when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve at a hillcrest near milepost 17.

According to Sgt. Michael K. Gelalia from the Elmore County Sheriff's Office, the driver lost control of the car, which left the roadway off the left shoulder. The Pontiac then slid sideways into an embankment and went airborne. It then struck a fence before overturning 2 1/2 times before coming to rest on its roof.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Boise, suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

It's unknown if alcohol played a factor in the crash with toxicology results pending. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.
