Submissions sought for AFAD mag

The Mountain Home News will mark the 55th anniversary of Air Force Appreciation Day in September by producing a special magazine to commemorate the event.

The newspaper staff is looking for photos and personal stories from the people in the local community tied to this year's theme, "Honoring the Spirit of America."

"This is another opportunity for us to share your voice and eye's perspective," said publisher Brenda Fincher.

While stories and photos don't need a direct tie to Mountain Home, they should provide personal perspectives on themes such as patriotism, freedom and America.

"Our community is well traveled, and our spirit is not limited to one day," Fincher said. "Allow us to share those moments in a photo or story submission."

The newspaper staff requests that people limit written submissions to no more than 500 words. In addition, the magazine needs high-resolution images, either digital or printed copies, with a minimum resolution of 300 dots per inch with an overall image size of 5X7 or 8X10 inches.

People should include their full name and daytime telephone number with each submission. However, submitting a photo or story doesn't guarantee that each one will appear in the publication.

All submissions are due to the newspaper office by Aug. 7. For more information, call the newspaper office at 587-3331.
