UPDATE: BLM contains range fire near Glenns Ferry

Thursday, July 9, 2015

The Bureau of Land Management have contained a range fire that scorched more than 300 acres of land about seven miles northwest of Glenns Ferry.

The Barry Fire began around 10:30 a.m. July 9 and was not in the path of any structures, although it did threaten power lines in the area, according to Jacque Link, a spokesperson with the BLM.

In addition to two fire crews, resources battling the fire included five engines, a dozer, water tender and two heavy engine air tankers. Meanwhile, the Mountain Home range land fire protection association provided a water tender, engine and a tractor with a disk.

An air crane tops off with water as it prepares to battle the Barry Fire northeast of Glenns Ferry.

Crews were expecting to have the fire under control Friday afternoon. While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, they suspect that lightning triggered the blaze.
