Tigers tennis team honored at mixer

Members of Mountain Home High School's tennis team received an assortment of honors during an awards mixer held May 19 at the Richard Aguirre Park tennis courts.

"The awards presentation started off on a high note and continued upward," said Tigers tennis coach Tamzy House. "It was a great pleasure to present the distinguished scholastic achievement award to each member of the varsity and junior varsity tennis teams."

The distinction goes to players who maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25.

Meanwhile, the coach presented outstanding individual scholastic achievement awards to seniors Marc Pelletier, Kira Anderson, Kierrianna Chavez and Tia Senger, junior Nathan Gibbons and freshman Rebecca Martin. Each student held a minimum grade point average of 3.75.

The coach then presented additional awards to recognize the accomplishments of players on the tennis court.

The best singles record went to Brad Foreman while Jarek Schetzle and Nathan Gibbons earned the best doubles record award. The most improved girl player award went to Ariel Jares while Will King earned the most improved boys player title.

The Tiger Tennis Spirit award went to Tia Senger while the ACE awards for most individual games won went to Kira Anderson in girls tennis and Brad Foreman in boys tennis. In addition, the 50 percent club this year's district tournament went to Brad Foreman.

Coach House then named Nathan Gibbons and Madeline McCurdy as the coaches for the 2016 Tiger tennis squad.

In junior varsity tennis awards, Rebecca Martin was the big winner, winning the best singles record, the Tiger Tennis Spirit award as well as the 50 percent club title at district. The best doubles record went to Cassidy McLean and Cassidy Robchenuk while Gia Romero earned the most improved player award.
