Students become honorary city, county leaders

Mayor Tom Rist, Sheriff Rick Layher, Mountain Home Police Chief Nick Schilz and Mountain Home Assistant Fire Chief Bud Corbus were paired up with Ashlyn Alexander, Alfredo Varela, Skylar Haines and Casey Sitton during this year's honorary leader program. The students attend classes at Hacker Middle School.

Four students from Hacker Middle School received an up-close look at how city and county agencies function after they became honorary community leaders Friday.

Ashlyn Alexander was selected as the Mountain Home's mayor for the day while Skylar Haines was named the city's honorary police chief.
