Tennis season wraps up

The Mountain Home Tigers closed out their regular season tennis schedule last week with losses.

The Mountain Home Tiger tennis team dropped their final home tennis match of the season April 28, losing to Caldwell, 6-1, in both girls and boys matches on senior night.

In girls action, Mountain Home's lone win came in doubles action as Melinna Grimmius and Kierianna Chavez won the second doubles match, 6-4, 7-5. Kaycee Crockett and Anna Urquidi lost the first doubles match, 0-6, 0-6.

In girls singles, Kira Anderson dropped the first singles match, 3-6, 2-6; Tia Senger was blanked in the second match; and Samantha Scobee lost the third match, 2-6, 0-6.

Mixed doubles action saw Miguel Pelletier and Samantha Feekes lose the first match, 1-6, 0-6, while David Trouten and Ariel Jares were blanked in the second match.

Mountain Home's lone win in boys action came in the first singles match as Brad Foreman won, 7-6, 6-3. Marc Pelletier and Thomas Fastzinger were both blanked in the second and third singles matches.In boys doubles, Jarek Schetzle and Nathan Gibbons lost the first match, 2-6, 1-6; and Dalton Barker and Will King lost the second match, 0-6, 2-6.

The Tigers traveled to Middleton last Thursday for their final conference match of the season and were blanked by the Vikings in both girls and boys action.

In girls singles, Kira Anderson was blanked in the first singles match; Tia Senger lost the second match, 0-6, 2-6; and Samantha Scobee fell in the third match, 0-6, 0-6.

In girls doubles, Kaycee Crockett and Mariah Butori lost the first doubles match, 1-6, 0-6; and Melinna Grimmius and Kierianna Chavez lost the second match in a tough, 3-6, 3-6 match.

In boys singles, Brad Foreman battled three sets before losing, 7-5, 5-7, 3-6, in first singles; Eddie Guadarrama lost the second match, 3-6, 1-6; and Thomas Fatzinger lost the third match, 1-6, 0-6. In boys doubles, Jarek Schetzle and Nathan Gibbons were blanked in the first match, while Marc Pelletier and Dalton Barker lost in three sets, 5-7, 6-2, 4-6.

In mixed doubles, Miguel Pelletier and Samantha Feekes lost the first match, 1-6, 0-6; and Alex Bucholz and Anna Urquidi were blanked in the second mixed doubles match.

Mountain Home closed out its regular season schedule at Sun Valley Friday, getting blanked by The Community School Cutthroats in both girls and boys matches.

Kira Anderson lost the first girls singles match, 0-6, 2-6; Tia Senger was blanked, 0-6, 0-6, in the second match; and Samantha Scobee lost the third match, 0-6, 1-6.

In girls doubles, Kaycee Crockett and Mariah Butori lost the first match, 0-6, 0-6; and Melinna Grimmius and Kierianna Chavez dropped the second match, 3-6, 2-6.

In boys sinles, Eddie Guadarrama dropped the first singles match, 4-6, 1-6; Nathan Gibbons lost a close 6-7, 2-6 match at second; and Thomas Fatzinger went down, 0-6, 2-6, in the third match.

In boys doubles, Jarek Schetzle and Brad foreman dropped the first match, 2-6, 6-7; and Marc Pelletier and Dalton Barker lost the second match, 0-6, 0-6.

In mixed doubles, Miguel Pelletier and Samantha Feekes lost the first match, 2-6, 1-6; and David Trouten and Ariel Jares lost the second match, 0-6, 2-6.

Mountain Home's junior varsity tennis team traveled to Middleton on Saturday for the District III 4A Junior Varsity Tourney.

In girls action, Gia Romero won her first match, 6-2, to advance to the quarter-finals where she lost, 3-6. She then was eliminated in the consolation round, 4-6.

Rebecca Martin dropped her first match, 0-6, but won her next two consolation matches, 6-2, 7-6, before she lost her fourth match, 2-6.

In girls doubles action, Cassidy McLean and Cassidy Rabchennuk won their first match, 6-1, to advance to the quarter-finals, where they lost, 2-6, and were then eliminated, 1-6, in the consolation bracket.

The Tigers head to the District 4A tennis tournament at Bishop Kelly and Borah, which begins Thursday, May 7.
