Alvin (Andy) William Andrews Jr. passed away on April 19, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at a Meridian hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home

He was born April 18, 1930, to Alvin and Monona Andrews. As a child in Franklin, Idaho, he learned the value of a hard day's work and grew up to be a strong and independent man.

When he was 22 years old, he met Audrey Jeannine Martin at a party. When she refused to dance with him, he knew he had met his match. The pair were wed soon after on Aug. 30, 1952, and together they raised five children.

Alvin proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years in England, Spain and Taiwan before settling in Mountain Home. He was awarded for Distinguished Service during the Vietnam War. He continued to serve our country with the Air Force Civil Service until his retirement.

Alvin was best known among friends for his sense of humor and happiness. He loved to laugh and especially enjoyed making others laugh. He was quick with a joke, prank or even a silly serenade.

He was a loving and kind father and grandfather whose patience and understanding changed the lives of each member of his family, making them better people simply for having known him. His love for his family was evident in the selflessness and generosity he displayed throughout his life.

Alvin instilled in his children and grandchildren strong moral character and love of God. He will forever be their hero. In his 85 years and one day, he made the world a better and brighter place.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, O'Dell Andews, Alice Andrews, Loumona Stoddard, Joyce Simson, Paul Andrews, and Marion Andrews, his wife, Jeannine, and son-in-law Wayne Tindall. He will be sincerely missed by his children, Bennie and Chris (Low) Andrews, Alvin and Annette Andrews, Susan Tindall, Jocelyn and Chuck Richardson and Martin and Wendy Andrews, his 11 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and brother Charles Andrews and sisters Martha Andrews and Velma Loncur.
