Donald Wayne Whitehead, age 60 of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at a Boise hospital. Inurnment and military honors will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Don was born in Cartersville, Ga., to James and Bonnie Whitehead on Aug. 11, 1954. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1974, and after serving three years in England, he came to Mountain Home where he served the remainder of his time in the military before he retired in 1994.

Don loved living in Idaho. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He spent his weekends with his family either fishing at the lake or camping in the mountains.

He absolutely loved his family, and his grandkids more than anything and loved to sit around with them for hours telling stories. He had huge heart and would do anything for anyone. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Don is survived by his father, James; his four siblings, Jimmy, Marylin, Lynn and Roger; his wife, Yvette; his three children, Donald, Stephanie and Alexandra; and his eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother.
