Update: Person in fatal crash identified

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

The Idaho State Police have identified the man who died in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Simco Road.

Chance McKeel, 47, of Mountain Home was driving a 1997 Saturn SL and turning north onto Simco Road from a dairy, located approximately six miles south of the interstate near milepost 7.

As he turned onto Simco Road, McKeel's vehicle crossed over the center line, partially into the southbound lane, when it collided with a 1995 Ford Econoline van driven by Donald Clarke, 52, of Meridia at 6:53 a.m.

Shortly after the initial collision, a school bus from the Caldwell Transportation Company driven by Patrick Coe, 23, of Mountain Home collided with McKeel's vehicle in the northbound lane of travel.

McKeel was pronounced dead at the scene. However, Clarke, Coe and the six students riding the bus were not injured in the crash. The bus company notified the parents of each student shortly after the crash with a second bus brought in to transport the students to their schools in Mountain Home.

Simco Road remained blocked for approximately three hours while crews investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
