Stairclimb event slated

Firefighters prepare to scale 69-story skyscraper -- a trek involving 1,311 steps around the building's stairwell -- during last year's Scott Firefighter Stairclimb. Mountain Home firefighters are currently training for this year's climb, scheduled for March 8 in Seattle.

The Mountain Home Fire Department will collect donations this Saturday at the local Albertsons as a team of firefighters prepare to participate in a national cancer awareness event.

Firefighters will remain at the supermarket from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. that day as a lead-in to the 24th Annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb, which is scheduled for March 8 in Seattle.
