Mountain Home out of contention for meat packing plant

Plans to build a proposed meat packing plant and slaughterhouse near Mountain Home came to an end this month after the company heading the project announced that it would open the facility in Kuna instead.

The proposed livestock complex, located on county land outside of the city's area of impact, lacked enough water to make the site feasible, said city economic development director Paula Riggs.

    Should have been no surprise about a lack of water. I believe the base has identified that the water level is dropping, it was on the news many months ago. There was a proposal for a large subdivision months ago and I think it was not approved due to water concerns. It was a nice try but it was doomed from the beginning.
