Police seek leads regarding vandalism at Basque park

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Mountain Home police are requesting the public's help for leads involving a vandalism incident at the local Basque park.

At least one individual spray painted graffiti on one wall of the pelota, or handball court, at the park on North 3rd West Street.

The graffiti is not consistent with gang-type activity and does not have police immediately concerned, said Officer Melanie Broughton, a police department spokesperson,

Police were not able to immediately determine when the incident actually took place. However, the bright blue spray paint used to vandalize the wall appears fresh, Broughton said.

For now, police expect to step up their efforts to spot additional signs of this type of "inappropriate behavior," said the officer, who added that police don't tolerate this type of crime.

Those with any tips or information pertaining to the vandalism and those seeing any suspicious activity are asked to call the county dispatch office at 587-2100. People may also submit information through the police department's website at www.mhpd.net through its "Silent Witness" link. People may remain anonymous when submitting information.
