An early winter storm that brought snow and freezing temperatures to southern Idaho led to a dozens of accidents and slideoffs on local roadways across the county last week.

The first weather-related calls were already coming in by 6 a.m. Thursday with state and local law enforcement continuing to receive calls of crashes and vehicles sliding off the roadways as the snow continued to fall.

On Thursday alone, state police had responded to five crashes and seven slideoffs although there were no reported injuries in these accidents, said Teresa Baker, a spokesperson with the Idaho State Police.

James Sotiroff and Taylor Soyk took advantage of Friday's winter storm by building a pair of snowmen in front of their home on North 6th East Street.
