Middle Fork Road reopens

Thursday, October 30, 2014

The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council has announced that after "excellent progress" on construction repairs, the Middle Fork Boise River Road reopened Friday, Oct. 31, ahead of schedule.

Heavy localized rain created flash flooding that washed out the road in early August. With just two access roads to the small community of Atlanta and the Middle Fork Road being the only reliable winter access road, crews had to work aggressively to finish the project.

The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council, in cooperation with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), is providing project oversight for the Middle Fork ER project. That includes coordination with Forest Service and the Atlanta Highway District.

The road is the only reliable route into Atlanta in the winter.

The $700,000 project is being done by two local contractors--Boise-based Western Construction Inc. and Robison Logging and Excavating, based in Grand View.
