Heavy equipment helps lay a new foundation for the washed-out road.

The Atlanta Highway District is making "excellent progress" with the repairs along a 6-mile section of the Middle Fork Boise River road washed out by a late summer major mud slide at mile marker 38 (Big Five Creek), according to David Olson, public affairs officer for the Boise National Forest

Contractors are ahead of schedule with the initial estimate of the road opening by mid-November, but a definite opening date is not established, Olson said.
