Cross country team places at Canyon Ridge Run

The Mountain Home girls and boys cross country teams both finished seventh in team standings at the Canyon Ridge Run at Rock Creek Park near Twin Falls.

Nampa won the girls race with 34 points. Bear River was second with 65, Wood River third with 84. Next came Firth at 137, Filer with 159, Canyon Ridge with 162 and Mountain Home in seventh with 163. Kimberly was eighth (166), Minico, ninth (171) and Twin Falls, 10th (252).

Elisabeth Stephens led the Mountain Home girls, finishing seventh in a time of 22 minutes, 12 seconds.

Alexis Georgianna was 22nd (23:22), Shilo Clark 40th (25:11), Whitney Sandberg 42nd (25:15) and Bianca Shrader 68th (28:03).

Bear River won the boys race with 47 points. Timberline of Boise was second with 67 and Nampa third with 73. Kimberly was fourth (129), Burley fifth (146), Wood River sixth (147), Mountain Home seventh (162), followed by Canyon Ridge (216), Minico (241), Twin Falls (274), Firth (293), Filer (308), Declo (347) and Oakley (372).

Leading the Tiger boys was Anthony DeSantis, who finished the course in 18:09, good for 16th place.

Kyle Pendleton came in 25th in 18:38. Josh Robinson was 31st (18:46), John Goodell 34th (18:54) and Christopher Payne 59th (19:46). Nolan Pasqualetti finished 62nd (20:03) and Riley Urquidi was 85th (21:23).

Sky Rabchenuk ran in the junior varsity race, finishing 108th in a time of 23:35.

Tigers cross country coach Doug Root was pleased with the efforts of his runners at the Twin Falls race.

"The kids ran very well. Chris Payne and John Goodell both ran seasonal PRs, and most everyone else was very close to theirs. This was the best showing for the girls all season."

The Tigers head to Elko, Nev., this Thursday for a meet.

"It's a long trip, and we'll see some different competition," Coach Root said. "We will be hosting the state qualifying meet on Oct. 23 at the Mountain Home Desert Canyon Golf Course."
