Read with Ruffy program helped boost reading scores

Stuffed dogs of all shapes, sizes and colors filled the shelves at the Mountain Home Public Library as people in the community made donations in support of the Reading with Ruffy program.

Last year's second-grade students in the Mountain Home School District showed significant improvement in their reading capabilities, according to state tests.

Curriculum Directory Sherri Ybarra believes the Read With Ruffy program helped a lot in achieving a 10 percent drop in students needing special help in reading and a 12 percent increase in overall efficiency, according to the Idaho Reading Indicator test taken in May.
