Bell sentenced on kidnapping, assault charges

Matthew Bell, a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend back in January, will spend a minimum of 10 years in prison following his sentencing in district court Monday afternoon.

Bell, 28, was sentenced to 40 years in prison on charges of first-degree kidnapping with 30 of those years listed as indeterminate time.

District Judge Lynn Norton then sentenced Bell to 15 years in prison to run concurrent with his other prison time with five years listed as indeterminate time for a separate felony count of attempted strangulation. He was also ordered to pay $5,000 in civil penalties along with $1,137 in restitution.
