Cross country team competes at Dani Bates Invite

The Mountain Home Tigers traveled to Canyon Springs Golf Course in Twin Falls last Wednesday for the Dani Bates Invitational cross country meet, where the Tiger boys finished 13th and the girls were 15th.

Highland of Pocatello won the boys race with 71 points. Idaho Falls finished second with 83. Kuna was third with 100, followed by Rigby at 106, Spring Creek with 127, Elko 182, Twin Falls 207, Kimberly 268, Jerome 272, Burley 334, Valley 336, Wood River 338 and Mountain Home 13th, with 363.

There were 24 teams competing in the boys race.

Anthony DeSantis led the Tigers, finishing 36th, in 18 minutes, 8.2 seconds. Kyle Pendleton came in 59th in 18:38.7. Josh Robinson also broke the 19-minute mark, finishing 80th in 18:59.8. John Goodell had a new personal best with his time of 19:24.1, which placed him 94th. Nolan Pasqaletti came in 104th in 20:00.1.

Idaho Falls won the girls race with 44 points. Spring Creek was second with 71, Elko a distant third with 147, followed by Twin Falls at 152, and Jerome with 154. Mountain Home finished 15th with 416 points. There were 20 teams competing in the girls race.

Elisabeth Stephens led the Mountain Home girls, finishing 43rd with a time of 22:25.8. Emily Lampman was 72nd, running the course in 23:22.5. Whitney Sandberg had a personal best time of 24:28.3, which placed her 95th. Alexis Georgianna was 98th, with a time of 24:35.6. Bianca Shrader finished 134th in 27:23.2.

Aundra Dickinson ran in the girls JV race, finishing 141st in 28:52.3.

Riley Urquidi and Sky Rabchenuk ran in the JV boys race, Urquidi coming in 129th in 22:03.0, and Rabchenuk was 194th, with a time of 24:01.9.

"We ran well," said Tigers cross country coach Doug Root. "Both the boys and girls are starting to run in a pack and we are dropping our overall times. The boys finished 13th out of 24, beating Century, Minico and Canyon Ridge, other 4A teams. The girls finished 15th out of 20, finishing ahead of Canyon Ridge, Burley and Minico."

The Tigers are back in the Twin Falls area today, Oct. 8, to run in the Canyon Ridge Run at Rock Creek Park.
