The Mountain Home Lady Tigers picked up their first conference volleyball win last Tuesday night, beating the Caldwell Lady Cougars in three straight games at Caldwell.

Mountain Home won the first set, 28-26, took the second, 25-14, and made it a sweep with a 25-21 win in the third set.

"It was great to get a win tonight," said Mountain Home Lady Tigers volleyball coach Jill Peterson. "We stayed pretty positive and worked hard all three sets. We came back from quite a deficit in the first set to win 28-26 and that was exciting.

The coach hoped to take this momentum into the next three home games.

Mattie Bennett had 12 kills, four service aces and six digs. Demery Dean had 10 kills, five aces and seven digs. Kysenya Peterson had 33 assists, an ace and a kill. Jessica Ruffing had six kills, two aces and nine digs. Sable Lohmeier had four kills, four blocks and an ace.

Middleton 3, Mountain Home 0

Mountain Home could not get into any good rhythm Thursday night and lost in three straight to Middleton in conference volleyball.

Middleton grabbed the lead early in the first set. The Lady Tigers managed to tie it at 2-2 and 3-3 before Middleton moved out to an eight-point lead. The Lady Tigers managed to cut it to four on a couple occasions, the latter at 19-23, before Middleton scored the final two points for a 25-19 win.

Mountain Home managed a 1-1 tie in the second set but fell behind after that and never was able to get any rally going. Middleton scored the final six points for a 25-14 win. It was more of the same in the third set, with Mountain Home falling behind 4-12 before rallying to within three, 10-13. The Lady Vikings then went on a 10-0 run to go up 23-10 and went on to win 25-12, winning the match in three straight.

"It was pretty ugly out there," Coach Peterson said. "We talked about what was going on out there as far as attitudes and really taking care of the ball. We were kind of a half a step behind all night. We missed some serves at key points when we had some good rallies going."

Demery Dean and Mattie Bennett both had five kills. Ksyenya Peterson had 19 assists, four kills and four service aces.

The Lady Tigers were home against Bishop Kelly on Tuesday night and host Jerome on Thursday, Oct. 2.
