Burn restrictions lifted

Friday, September 12, 2014
Controlled burns should be closely monitored.

As temperatures begin to cool and humidity starts to rise area fire managers have ended the fire restrictions imposed earlier this year.

The BLM ended the last of the Stage 1 Fire Restrictions in Elmore County last weekend. Similar restrictions in Ada, Canyon, Payette, Gem and Washington counties also were lifted at that time.

Meanwhile, the Elmore County Commissioners lifted the burn ban in the county Monday.

Although burning will again be allowed in the county, all local fire districts require a burn permit.

In the Mountain Home Rural Fire District permits obtain earlier this year do not need to be renewed, but the requirement to notify authorities of any controlled burn remains in effect. Such notification helps prevent false-alarm fire calls. Area residents are reminded that all proper procedures and concern for fire should still still be followed.
