Why did someone steal the plums?

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Dear editor:

This is to the person(s) responsible for removing ALL of the plums from my plum trees.

First: I don't mind someone helping themselves to some plums as I did have quite a bit on the two trees (but ALL of them?)

Second: If you were/are someone who knows me, I would have expected a note or a phone call telling me that you had stopped by and helped yourself to some plums.... and if you are someone who does not know me, just a note would have been polite.

Third: They were MY plums, on MY property and I did promise some of them to my friends, who had permission to come get them (which they didn't get the opportunity to do). Instead SOMEONE chose to be GREEDY and take/steal ALL of them, evidently while I was out.

Fourth: Like I said "First" I don't mind sharing but I do believe that rather than trespassing on private property (had to open my gate or climb my fence) and then being rude by helping yourself to ALL of them, you could have asked (but seriously... ALL of them?).

If I was not home, then leaving a name and number would have only been polite.

I still cannot believe that all that was left hanging in my trees were a handful of "good" plums and the majority (another handful or so) left hanging were the partially eaten ones the birds had left behind.

Well, whoever you are... I hope you are enjoying the "stolen" fruits of your labor.
