Julie Ann Carnahan, 60, of Glenns Ferry, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at a Mountain Home care center.

She was born in Gooding, Idaho on Nov. 26, 1953, to parents Karl and Elsie Carnahan of King Hill, Idaho.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 17 at the King Hill Presbyterian Church with Pastor Martin Geisel officiating. Inurnment will follow at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Julie spent most of her life at her parents' home on Kansas Street. She attended Glenns Ferry schools and graduated for Glenns Ferry High School. While there, she accompanied a high school student tour to Spain, studying and becoming fluent in the Spanish language at the University of Sala Manca.

Returning to Idaho, she studied nursing at both Boise State University and the College of Southern Idaho and later worked as a nursing assistant at Magic Valley Memorial Hospital.

She also worked as a teaching assistant at Glenns Ferry elementary school.

Julie was an intelligent woman and avid reader of books, local newspapers and magazines. She also had a remarkable memory and was always willing to correct you with names, places and dates you may have forgotten. One memorable time, she was given an English edition of an Iraqi newspaper, given to her by the wife of a soldier serving in Iraq. She marveled at the different slant on the news that we heard and read here in the States.

Julie will be sadly missed by many.

She is survived by her sister, Larraine, and her husband, Don, of Boise, two aunts, Glenda and Jaunita, and many cousins, friends and acquaintances.
