Letter to the Editor

Obama is not working on behalf of the American people

Wednesday, August 6, 2014

Dear editor:

When someone tells me I don't understand what it is to be a minority, I reply immediately, "The heck I don't!" I'm an American who hasn't forgotten how to BE one. That ALONE makes one a minority, especially today.

It's not a geographical issue either. You are no more of an American because you were born in Kansas than you'd be a musician because you've purchased a guitar.

In Vietnam, I fought alongside a kid originally from the Philippines who loved being a part of America and what it had to offer back in the states and wanted to do everything he could to keep it.

I also went to high school with a kid from San Francisco who dodged the draft, then became a communist subversive. There was never a question in MY mind which of those two was the real American.

I don't care if Obama WAS born in Hawaii. Every time he picks up his pen, it ain't for us.

I went to school and can read our Constitution, also. It's not a "birther" thing, it's what's in his heart. With every move he's made, he's left no doubt where his true priorities are.

He is NOT one of us, and neither are most of the Senate and House that surround him.

Those out here who support and endorse what this government does, need to do some serious soul searching, because one IS what one believes in and supports. You could well be a socialist or communist, and never actually realize it. You don't need to be a "card-carrier," just believe in the doctrine. Follow, donate, support and defend.

Our nation was born as a republic, not a democracy. Republic basically means that people can live free. Free to come and go, buy or sell, be drunk or sober, as long as we don't step on the rights of others.

What's ironic today, is that our founders broke it off with England because of the heavy and unjust taxes, and because of government intrusion into people's lives, exactly what's going on right now, yet so many today sadly embrace it.

Via our Constitution, what D.C. is doing is NOT "OK," but, as long as those welfare checks keep coming in along with those "free cell phones," life is good, isn't it?

To "self-justify" this garbage, we don't call things what they really are anymore, in hopes that a change in nomenclature will somehow magically change the definition.

It's my contention that "refugees" still spread tuberculosis, measles, scavies, lice and other diseases just as quickly as illegals do. And they ARE illegals who are NOT supposed to be here. It's like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist" so it really doesn't sound "all that bad." He's still a drug dealer, no matter how badly you think he should be called something else.

Americans, (those of us who still put OUR country ahead of the rest of the globe), see right through this and do NOT support politicians who would give it all away for a few extra votes.

A true American isn't "hyphenated" either. My own ancestors originally came from England, but I do not call myself an "English-American." If I wanted to re-claim my ethnic "heritage" of living under the Crown and bowing to royalty, I'd move back over there. A lot of blood was spilled so we DON'T have to do that.

If you'd rather work in a sweat shop in Hong Kong, make car parts in Mexico, fight off diseases and snakes in Africa or work in the salt mines of Siberia rather than be HERE in "hateful, greedy, arrogant" America, that's your choice. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

You're either an American or you're not. Even at 66 and with some medical issues, I will still be the first one out there to exchange fire with anyone threatening to take us over, "foreign or DOMESTIC," (and why do you suppose they put THAT little clause in there, eh?) Been there before, but this time it will be for OUR country and OUR grandkids. In 2014, I'm proud to still be an American. I'm an old man nearly five decades beyond boot camp, but I'll still be out there when the time comes. There is no "hyphen" on my name tag.

A few minutes ago, I mentioned the "changing of nomenclatures and definitions." Isn't it funny how we Tea Partyers are called "NAZIs" by Reid and Pelosi, who spearhead a government of mandates, threats, fines, IRS (Gestapo) intimidation, voter fraud, treason, a government that tries to tell us how to live, what to eat or drink, what our kids can wear, what you can or can't SAY now, a government that wants to completely control our lives (in our "best interests" of course). Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They know all, they see all, they're the elite "protecting us peasants." They want to run it ALL, and they want YOU to back them up as they rob you and control your life.

But the Tea Party folks, the only faction in this country who still back what freedom was founded upon. It's the TEA PARTIES who are the "nazis."

You really don't remember what being an honest-to-God American is all about do you? (A lot of you don't anyway).

I'll be out there when it hits the fan. Might be out there by myself by then. I hope not, though.

My next letter will be on a positive note, which I don't get to do very often because there aren't many positive things going on anymore, but I'm looking forward to this next one. It's about a fellow American who you should get to know.

I'll close on this note: In a discussion with a liberal not too long ago, he was trying to justify that illegals are flooding the borders because of oppression in their own countries. I replied that if people are being treated like dog meat in their countries, then they should do as OUR founders did. Revolt and kick the tyrants out!

"No, they HAVE to come here, they can't fight their governments."

"Why not" I asked, "WE did."

"They can't fight rifles and machine-guns" came the reply. (Oh baby, this was the wrong opening in front of the wrong guy). "Well" says Mikey, "Isn't it YOU guys who keep saying that "only the police and the military should have guns?"

Total silence. (and what part of "Shall Not Be Infringed" don't YOU understand?) . The men who wrote that had been there and done that..

Learn to be Americans again, or you too will one day be silenced.

Mike Bradbury

  • The guy was probably silent because he recognized that you were unable to have a logical conversation and might frenzy yourself into a heart attack. Maybe he saved your life.

  • Mr Bradbury - Hyphenated names like Asian-American or Mexican-American merely show pride in both a national identity and a cultural identity.

How we treat the refugees/aliens on our border is a reflection of our character. Their need is merely an occasion for revealing that character.

The Tea Party claims to be the only ones who want a smaller government (so small it exists in name only). Moderate Republicans, moderate Democrats and new groups like the Modern Whig Party are all working for a smaller, fiscally responsible government that is able to protect citizens against those (whether companies or individuals) who would exploit the people and the environment for their personal gain.

Our selfishness, demanding of special treatment (bake me a cake for my party or I will sue you), and our unwillingness to seek consensus is a result of a lack of vision. There is a saying - "When there is no vision, the people perish". Shutting down the federal government and a state convention (Tea Party), or just trying "not to do stupid stuff" (Obama) are hardly visionary.

Albert Einstein said "We cannot solve our problems by using the same thinking we used when we created them". It is time we left the extremes of political ideology and returned to common ground where we can find solutions and a shared vision of America for the future.
