Youngsters try their hand at fishing during last year's event at Legacy Park.

June 14 is Free Fishing Day, and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game is inviting veteran and novice anglers of all ages, residents and nonresidents alike, to celebrate the day by fishing in Idaho without a license.

At special locations around the southwest region, including the Legacy Park pond in Mountain Home, equipment will be available for use and fishing experts will be on hand to help novice anglers learn the ins and outs of fishing.

The event in Legacy Park is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
