Dale Walter Rogers, 82, of Grand View, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014, at a Boise hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 6, at the Riverside Cemetery in Grand View. Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Dale was born in Greely, Colo., on April 29, 1932. He was the tenth child out of eleven born to Guy Walter and Loma Rosetta Wood Rogers.

At the age of 18, Dale joined the U.S. Navy. He was a boiler tender on the USS Sproston, a Fletcher-class destroyer, for four years. His home base was in Hawaii but most of his time was spent patrolling along the east coast of Korea. The ship saw a lot of action during the Korean War. Dale received many Good Conduct Awards during his four years in the Navy. In 2010 Dale received a thank you letter from the Korean President on behalf of his country for the help he gave them in their time of need. Dale was very proud of that letter.

In 1957, Dale married Margret Mary Giacomelli. They had two sons: Dale Jr. and Gerald. Margaret passed away in 1994.

On May 18, 1995, Dale married his current wife, Dora.

During his life Dale worked many jobs. He was a miner for 20 years, ran and worked on heavy machinery for the State of Colorado and did all kinds of odd jobs. In his later years he was a mechanic for the Simplot feedlot in Grand View.

Dale was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Lions Club and the American Legion.

Dale is survived by his wife, Dora, son Gerald, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, all ten siblings, his first wife, Margret, and his oldest son, Dale, Jr.
