Ronald Keith Pelkey, 70, of Boise, passed away at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center on Monday, May 26, 2014.

Ron was born in Ellwood City, Pa., on May 31, 1943, and married his wife on June 1, 1963.

While in the Air Force, he traveled to France, Florida, Okinawa and Idaho. He retired in 1982 and began working for the Idaho Transportation Department and retired again in 2006.

Ron liked camping, RVing, barbecuing, and spending time with family. He loved watching his grandkids play sports and attended their games faithfully. Ron enjoyed his family and friends and would do anything for those who needed help and all who knew him will remember his sense of humor.

Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Mary Alice; daughter Diana Esbensen and her husband, William, of Boise; son Richard Pelkey and wife, Tina, of Nampa; four grandchildren, Kyle, Brandon, Kortney and Taylor; and an "adopted" grandson, Donny, who all love him and will miss him deeply.

Ron was preceded in death by parents and brother.

Memorial services will be held at Capital Christian Center at noon on Monday, June 2, followed by a reception. A military honors ceremony will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Eagle at 3 p.m.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Red Cross of Idaho or the Idaho Humane Society -- see more at: http://www.redcross.org/id/boise/ways-to-donate or https://www.idahohumanesociety.org/donate/.
