Ride to Patriot Thunder set

Thursday, May 29, 2014
Motorcycles roar down North 10th East Street across from Carl Miller Park during last year's Patriot Thunder event. Due to safety concerns raised by state officials, the ride to Mountain Home was canceled this year.

Although the Patriot Thunder ride to Mountain Home has been canceled, the effort to raise funds for three local military charities will go on with a Patriot Thunder event in Meridian.

If the ride won't come to Mountain Home, however, that isn't stopping local motorcyclists from making an informal trip to the "ride in" at Meridian's High Desert Harley-Davidson shop.

Those who want to make the ride to Meridian are being encouraged to meet at 10:30 a.m. at T&V Marine on Sunday, June 1.

Actually, we are now meeting at 1000 with KSU at 1030, we can't be late getting to the main event. We will continue to support the great organizations that these monies are raised for.

he Idaho Goverment, IDT, and ISP all can bite the big one for this. They tell the big wiggs from Washington DC how important the Military, Gowen Field and Mountain Home AFB is and how much they support us. One week after they leave the Idaho goverment sticks their middle finger up at everyone they claim to support.

THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LIERS...THIS MEANS YOU MR. GOV.

  • A little bird told me that many riders are coming to Mountain Home anyway. In spite of ISP, et al.

Let me take a moment to says a huge thanks to Troy and Vanessa Wilkins for hosting me and 250 of my friends at T & V Marine. About 150 bikes joined our 50-60 before we headed up to Meridian. Our thanks also to Frank Zamora for the sugar and carbs. You rock. Mayor Rist and the Mountain Home Police came out to support us and provide a little oversight and safety for the groups departure. Oh and there were two Elmore County Sheriff vehicles out on the Interstate to provide the same great support all the way to the county line. The American Legion Riders, the Mountain Home AFB Green Knights and other organizations are so proud to live and serve in this community where the needs of others (Operation Warmheart, Wyakin Warrior and ING Family Support Fund) these groups will see positive benefits due to our efforts and your support. Heh? Who was it that told me I couldn't go for a bike ride on a Sunday morning?
