Jessie B. Fleming, 83, of Glenns Ferry, passed away on May 3, 2014, at North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding.

At Jessie's request, no services will be held. Her ashes will be interred in Glenn Rest Cemetery, Glenns Ferry, at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, Mountain Home.

Jessie was born on May 8, 1930, to W. E. Barbour and Clara Burk's Barbour.

On Nov. 14, 1955, Jessie married John W. Fleming. She followed John around his whole military career. John retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel.

In 1973, John and Jessie moved to Glenns Ferry.

John passed away Sept.30, 1990.

In Jessie's younger years, she was a model in New York City. After moving to Glenns Ferry, Jessie served 20 years on the Glenns Ferry City Council and 35 years helping out with the Senior Citizens Center.

Jessie's unwavering faith, extraordinary kindness to others and attention to civic responsibilities has been inspirational to all of us and will be sorely missed.

Jessie leaves behind a loving extended family that includes the daughter and family she never had, Dana and her husband, Dr. John Gies, of King Hill, and their children, Sheridan Swenson and his beautiful daughter, Miss Lucy Swenson, of King Hill, Keegan Gies of Omaha, Neb., and Kathleen Gies of Tusan, Ariz.

Jessie was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, John, and Dana's son, Chase Swenson.
