Road to be closed for repair of Castle Creek Bridge

Thursday, April 24, 2014

The Mountain Home Highway District will repair a bridge crossing at Castle Creek which is located on Reservoir Road about 9 miles west of Pine along the north shore of Anderson Ranch Reservoir.

An approximately 2 mile section of the Reservoir Road will be closed beginning April 30 from about one mile west of Fall Creek and just east of the Evans Creek Campground. The repair is anticipated to be completed by Memorial Day.

The Fall Creek area and lodge will be accessible from Pine. Access along the reservoir from Anderson Ranch Dam east towards the closure is open and available, but travelers should be aware of the limited turn around near Evans Creek.

The concrete bridge was damaged by the intense mud slides in mid-September, 2013 as a result of the Elk Complex fire and an associated mud debris event due to an intense thunderstorm.

The repairs are being done by Kesler Construction, headquartered in McCall, Idaho, and will involve replacing the bridge abutments and decking with pre-cast sections.

Repairs are being done in partnership with the United States Forest Service and the Mountain Home Highway District.

Further information is available by calling the Mountain Home Highway District at 587-3211 or the Mountain Home Ranger District at 587-7961.
