Letter to the Editor

Putin reads Obama's weakness

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Dear editor:

Kelly Everitt wrote a good article last week about what's happening in the Ukraine. Clear back to the days of Lenin, the Russians have never been able to be trusted. I'll bet even John Kerry figures that out eventually.

Republicans and Democrats aren't the only ones who watch American administrations though, so do our sworn enemies, and Putin sees right through Barack Obama, and he sees Obama far better than any Democrat ever has.

Right out of the gate, the entire world watched the "apology tour." They've watched the continued military posture changes in America. Bin Laden given burial rites on an American super carrier. Then there was "Don't ask, don't tell." Our veterans have become second class citizens, and as always when the Dems are in power our military itself continues to be cut in favor of wasteful and fraudulent social programs.

The cuts this time will take our military below pre-WWII levels. Do we think Putin and others do not see that, even as he feels us out now by buzzing our ships with his aircraft? He knows Obama is weak and indecisive and will not confront the world's bullies. He might be the president of the United States, but it's by title only. He is NOT a leader. "Peace through strength" has been reduced to "Hope and Change" as America has gone down the slope from "Mr. Gorbechev, tear down this wall," to "Tell Vladamir I'll be more flexible after my re-election." Well folks, I do believe that "Vladamir" is showing our community organizer what "flexible" actually means.

I also think folks are seriously warped if they think a community organizer is somehow going to intimidate a former lieutenant colonel of the KGB. Putin's got his number. He also has no respect for our current administration and you can see it in their "Kodak moment" photos together. This is an extremely dangerous situation, when the OTHER superpower no longer respects, nor fears your resolve. (Yeah, I know, the Russians aren't a superpower anymore). I'm sure they had some huge global yard sale and sold off all of their nuke subs, MIGs and missiles.

I wouldn't trust Moscow any further than I'd trust Harry Reid, who calls the Nevada patriots "terrorists" but kisses Obama's feet calling the Fort Hood massacre a "workplace incident." Gimme a break.

We shouldn't be involved anywhere else in the world. This isn't Ronald Reagan now, with Margaret Thatcher to speak for the allies. Even Netanyahu doesn't trust us anymore, and who could blame him? What will this administration do next, send more MRE's? And Putin will just squeeze more dollars for oil.

A final thought in THAT area: Yes, we all know that George Bush is forever responsible for everything from the fall of the Roman Empire, right on into the 22nd century, but back in April of 2002, realizing we're sitting on more oil that OPEC probably is, Bush wanted to drill in the arctic. BOOM! Here come all of the left-wing tree huggers in Congress, out from under the woodwork like herds of roaches. Must not disturb the caribou and elk of the frozen north and the yellow-bellied sapsuckers that migrate through there from Tibet every Chinese New Year. And so it came to pass that the Congressional Democrats got the intended drill stopped.

"Oh, I see," said the blind man. "Let's just pay the Arabs some more, eh?"

We could have been pumping our OWN oil by now, (not for four bucks a gallon either), and Putin could stuff HIS oil where the sun doesn't shine, right along with all of his limousine-riding sheik buddies over there. The LIBERALS out there have been the ones "holding America hostage" over the last 14 years. Not the GOP.

Matter of public record, it's been Harry Reid and friends, who continue to want the debt ceiling raised with no spending cuts. It is the DEMOCRATS who are not only holding us hostage, but our kids and grandkids as well, the very ones who will be burdened with PAYING for all of this arrogance, irresponsibility, and outright ignorance.

Don't forget to vote early and often.
