Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, John Richmond Solosabal, of Glenns Ferry passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 17, 2014.

John, was born to Joseph Louis and Ruth Solosabal, December 10, 1944, in Boise, Idaho. John lived his childhood years on the family ranch in Glenns Ferry, with his grandparents, parents, and sister.

John met Eva Allene Reddish while attending high school, and they became high school sweethearts. John graduated from Glenns Ferry High School in 1963. John knew that he had found "the catch of his life" before leaving to attend Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. He married Eva Allene Reddish on May 23, 1964, in Rexburg, Idaho.

They returned to Glenns Ferry, to begin their life together on the family ranch. John resided in Glenns Ferry his remaining years. He ranched and farmed with his father, wife, sister, four sons, six daughters and many of his grandchildren. He taught his children and grandchildren the value of honesty, hard work and the joys of family. He taught these values by spending time fly fishing, camping as a family, hiking, playing sports, and attending family activities.

His service in various positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, throughout his life taught his children how much he loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. John and Allene served in the Boise Idaho Temple from 2000 until his passing.

John is survived by his wife Allene, his children Julie (Brent) Allen, John (Jolinda) Solosabal, Jr., Jayme (Rock) Self, Jannette (Dave) Olson, Jody (Steve) Nelson, Jim (Katie) Solosabal, Joseph (Joni) Solosabal, Jared Solosabal, Jennifer (James) Ball, Jacquelin (Scott) Cook, his sister Donna (Dennis) Smith, 41 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and two grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Glenns Ferry. The viewing will be held from 9:30AM until 10:45AM, and funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM. Grave side services will follow at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
