Track athletes set 7 school records at Canyon Ridge

The Mountain Home Tigers had a great effort at Friday's Canyon Ridge track and field meet at Canyon Ridge High School in Twin Falls.

As of press time Monday, the official results had not been sent from Canyon Ridge, but Tiger athletes set seven new school and meet records at the event.

Ryan Eckstrom was a double winner for the Tigers, winning the 110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

Eckstrom set new school and meet records in both events, going the 110-meter event in 15.84 seconds, and the 300-meters in 42.14 seconds.

AJ Daniels set a new record in the 200 meters, going 22.7 seconds.

Nolan Pasqualetti tied the school and meet record in the high jump, going five feet, 10 inches.

Mountain Home also set new records in the 4x100 meters, 4x200 meters, and 4x400-meter relays.

Jonathan Deese, Jett Cristobal, Jacob Ryan and Chance Llewellyn ran the 4x100-meter relay in 45 seconds, a new record. Jett Cristobal, AJ Daniels, Jacob Ryan and Chance Llewellyn ran the 4x200-meter relay in 1:36.4, and J.T. Frierson, AJ Daniels, Devin Wright and Nolan Pasqualetti ran the 1600-meter medley relay in 3:59.3.

Makena Carson also set a new meet record in the girls' 100-meter high hurdles, going 17.8 seconds, beating the mark she set at Canyon Ridge last year.

"The coaches were pleased at how the team keeps improving," said Tigers track coach Rich Urquidi. "We are still moving some athletes here and there to get the most out of the team."

The Tigers travel to Bishop Kelly on Thursday, April 17, for a meet.
