Tigers fall to Bruins in one-run game

Thursday, April 3, 2014

The Mountain Home Tigers received some great pitching efforts from four pitchers, but couldn't get their bats going as they dropped a 1-0 non-conference baseball game to the Twin Falls Bruins last Friday at Tiger Field in Mountain Home.

Zach Petersen, Levi Abrahamson, Jesse Cobos and Danny Brescia combined on a five-hitter, striking out three and walking just one and hitting one. But the Bruins' Chandler Greenfield limited Mountain Home to one hit -- a two-out single by Danny Brescia in the first inning -- while striking out ten Tiger batters.

"I think it says a lot for our pitching staff, to have four guys just five up, five hits and one run," said Tiger head baseball coach Mark Cotton after the game.

"We played solid defense, but it's kind of the same old story with us," the coach added. "Offensively, we're just not very good right now. You know, It's how you finish, and hopefully, this next week we can get it going, because we're going to have to -- we've got quality opponents coming up."

The loss dropped the Tigers to 2-4 overall. They return to conference action this week where they are 1-2. They hosted the Bishop Kelly Knights at home Tuesday, travel to Skyview on Thursday and host Middleton on Friday.
