Adrienne Beatrice Rice, 84, died peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, March 30, 2014.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Grand View LDS Church in Grand View, Idaho. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Grand View. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett.

Adrienne was born March 7, 1930, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, to Cyril and Gladys Layne. She was the last in a family of four children, with three brothers, Hugh, Varian and Ellis, who died shortly after birth.

Adrienne grew up in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, and came to the United States with her parents at the age of 20. She lived in Long Beach, Calif., when she met Leonard Rice on a blind date. They were married on Jan. 26, 1952 in Long Beach.

After several moves in California they settled in Grand View, Idaho, in 1968 and lived there until Leonard's death in August 2012. Adrienne moved to Idaho City, Idaho, and lived with her son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Rhonda, until December 2013 when circumstances required her to move to an assisted living facility in Star, Idaho, where she remained until her death.

Adrienne loved to play the piano, sing, read, knit, laugh and spend time with her family and friends. She taught piano lessons to many students over a 25-year span. She also knitted hundreds of winter hats that she donated to several schools and organizations. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout her life.

Adrienne was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, and is survived by her children Cheri Gilbert (Dan), Jim (Rhonda), Gary, Virginia May (David), Dan (Lynne), Rick (Sami), Mark, Scott (Andrea) and Mindy Madsen (Hans) as well as 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and counting.

Adrienne will be greatly missed, but her family takes great comfort in knowing she and Leonard are together again.
