Graveside services were held March 13, 2014, at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Lyman was born in Neosho, Mo., on Sept. 3, 1925, the youngest of ten children of Lyman Walter Sr. and Mary Richardson.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1944, where he served in Okinawa and Japan at the end of WWII until 1946.

He later met Martha Ann Patterson and they married on Oct. 27, 1951.

By that time the family was living in Goodman, Mo., where Lyman worked in civil service at Camp Crowder. In 1960, he was transferred to Fort Chaffee in Fort Smith, Ark. The family lived in Van Buren, Ark., during that time.

In 1964, Lyman was transferred to Mountain Home AFB. Mountain Home became home for Lyman and his family, except for the two older girls who had married by then and remained in Arkansas. He worked at Mountain Home AFB until he retired in 1981 after 30 years in civil service.

Lyman is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Eversole (C.A.) of Natural Dam, Ark., Beverly Nash (Gary) of Sun City, Fla., Gay Lain of Fayetteville, N.C., and Jeannie Johnson (Randy) of Mountain Home, his sister Trecca Todd of Neosho, Mo., 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
