John Agger IV

Retired MSgt. John James Patrick Agger IV, 36, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 18, 2014, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

A celebration of John's life, with full military honors, was held Saturday, March 1, at the Mountain Home Church of Nazarene, 950 N. 7th East St. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

John was retired from the United States Air Force after an exemplary career serving his country.

John's light shone so brightly and it touched everyone that he encountered and his fight for his life inspired so many. He is deeply missed by all who knew him.

John was an amazing husband to his wife, Jennifer, and devoted father to Joseph (11), Michael (9) and Emily (3). He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Karin and Robert Trasferini, of Ventnor, N.J., his father and stepmother, Jack and Maureen Agger, of Philadelphia, his paternal grandfather, John James Agger Sr., of Philadelphia, his sister, Helena Agger, and nephew Angelo Sochocky of Ventnor, N.J., sister Shannon Anaya of Boise, sister Nichole Greiner of Philadelphia, sister Jennifer Greiner and nephew Kayne Greiner of Philadelphia, sister Eva Mitchel and nephews Jon Johnson and Jason Taylor and niece Nija Mitchell of Ventnor, N.J., brother LCpl. Aaron Trasferini of Marine Corps Base, Hawaii, brother Clifford Trasferini of Ventnor, N.J., brother Christopher Trasferini and nephew Kaden Trasferini of Ventnor, N.J., brother Dennis Trasferini of Ventnor, N.J., aunt Eileen Agger of Philadelphia, uncles Dennis, James and Brian Agger of Philadelphia and numerous great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, JoAnn Wiseman, father-in-law Jerry Wiseman, brother-in-law and his wife Michael and Janice Wiseman and their children Mandy and Jay Wiseman, sister-in-law and her husband Jayne and Brad Jordan and their daughter Bethany, sister-in-law and her husband Julie and Rex Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Hilde Preston, and his paternal grandmother, Anne Agger.

A foundation in John's memory is being organized. The family requests that donations, rather than flowers, be sent to the foundation.
