Leo Ervin McGhee, 67, of Glenns Ferry, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at a Boise hospital.

A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Rost funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11: a.m., at the VFW Hall in Glenns Ferry on Thursday, Jan. 9. Burial will follow at Glenn Rest Cemetery, Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMunrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Lco was born on Dec. 12, 1946, to Gerald (Fibber) and Elvira McGhee in Gooding. Leo grew up in Glenns Ferry and graduated from Glenns Ferry High School.

Leo was an outstanding athlete while in school and some of his records are not broken up to this day.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years.

He married Hidayet on Aug. 11, 1981, in Ankara, Turkey.

He retired back in Glenns Ferry in 1992.

Leo was the mayor of Glenns Ferry in 1993.

Leo was an avid reader. He enjoyed politics and loved nature.

Leo is survived by his wife, Hidayet, and his four-legged daughter, Sadie, his daughters Johnna McGhee of Black Diamond, Wash., Jennifer Hirjak of Bellevue, Wash., and Jessica McGhee of Maple Valley, Wash., his sisters, Bonnie Hares of Lake Elizabeth, Calif., and Elsie and her husband, Leon DeWeerdt, of Mesa, Ariz., and grandchildren Lars Larson, Samantha Stanley, Alexa McGhee, Kalee Larson and Madison Stanley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald (Fibber) and Elvira (Vera) McGhee.
